computer lab - should we have a 4 day school week?

Title - something like: 4 days of school each week? I think it sounds GOOD!

Intro: 3-4 sentences - introduce the topic and share your opinion. DO NOT share your reasons in the intro! Save them for the body of the essay

paragraph 2 - REASON 1 - state a reason you think your opinion is right - example: if we don't have school on Friday's then we can sleep in! Then explain why your reason is important: example: Students our age need more sleep and friday morning is the perfect time to do it! We will be more alert the rest of the week if we have more time to sleep on Fridays.....
use 3 - 4 sentences


paragraph 3 - REASON 2 - state a second reason why your opinion is right. Support that reason... explaining why it is important.

paragraph 4 - REASON 3 - one more reaosn... support it... you get the pattern... RIGHT???

CONCLUSION - restate your your opinion as if whoever is reading your essay obviously would agree with you now....
example: As you can see, a four day school week is the only way to go. It has advantages for everybody. I hope Troy Public Schools will consider this option in the future.

HAVE FUN WITH IT! What kind of creative reasons can you come up with? For extra credit... add another paragraph with ideas of how the school district could save money.

1. 15 minutes of Type to Learn! If you get to lesson 5, try the lesson 5 warp speed.

2. Pick a country from Europe of your choice. Answer the following questions about your country.... type them in complete sentences, print them... turn them in...

What is the capital of your country?
What is the population of your country?
What language is spoken in your country?
What other countries border your country?
What is the highest point in your country?
What geographic points are in your country? (mountains, oceans, lakes)

3. When finished... do free rice - you can choose between countries or vocabulary.

Type your I Have a Dream speech.

To get full credit for the assignment you must have the following:
- an introduction - it could start with "I say to you today..." but it does not have to.
-at least 3 dreams (start with I have a dream that....)

- each dream must have 3 sentences to support it. Tell us why you have that dream, why is it important and worth dreaming about?

- a conclusion - this can be just one sentence, but remember, this is a speech... you wouldn't just walk away mid-thought! Dr. King ended his speech with "Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty we are free at last" You could at least come up with - live well and prosper! Be creative!

- post on your blog - what is your opinion of cursive handwriting - do you think we should work on it in school? Do you like writing with cursive? would you like to better at it? Do you think it is useful? Why or why not? Write at least 100 words.... email it to your teacher as well....

- 500 grains of rice on free rice VOCABULARY
